How Art Helped Establish Carlsbad Caverns

It’s a round-about way, but stick with me here. Exactly one year ago we posted a story about how Art Helped Establish America’s First National Park. One year later we are sharing the poster of Carlsbad Caverns National Park – our 24th poster on this quest – and we can’t help but remember those words from a year ago.

The story explains how Thomas Moran captured our nation’s attention with his paintings from Yellowstone, prompting Congress into action. In 1872, Yellowstone become the first national park of what has become a global movement to protect our natural world.

Today we have over 400 diverse national park units, and 59 national parks within that system. We’re thankful for the 24th park along our journey, a mysterious place where everyone can enjoy a little bit of art.

Any form of art is a form of power; it has impact, it can affect change – it can not only move us, it makes us move.
