The Centennial Poster Series is a collection of 59 illustrated posters celebrating the National Parks 100th Anniversary. We are designing one poster per park as we visit them and 10% of each sale made will go to a charity group associated with that particular park, most often a “friends of” group. We set aside the amount raised for each park and donate to the groups quarterly.
Why the Style?
The series is inspired by an old Victorian gaslight era style, we love the handcrafted feeling of historic aesthetics and this particular one dates from mid-19th to early 20th century. It felt perfect to emulate because the style represents the year 1916, when the park service was established. With each poster we are trying to capture the essence of that particular park, choosing a symbol of the park that resonates with us or a particular moment in history.
Why the Series?
We’re doing this as a way to celebrate and honor a natural heritage, and as a way to tell stories about places that weave the fabric of our culture.
